History of the greatest band ever lived!
In 1955, the greatest guitarist (and i mean greatest!) would be born. But Angus Young wouldn't automatically reach superstardom. I would take a little help from his brothers. Angus and Malcolm were introduced to rock n' roll by their older brothers George and Alex (out of eight children). George became a big australian star in the mid-1960's with a group called the Easybeats. Angus and Malcolm were very impressed, for they too, were learning how to play guitars. Gettin pointers from George whenever he came back home from tours. They then went to start their own bands.
Malcolm started a couple of garage bands, but they didin't go anywhere. In 1971, he joined a band called velvet underground. Angus formed a bandof his own called tantrum . The only gigs he played he played were school
dances. Mostly Angus would jam on his guitar with friends, In 1973 they formed the best band ever, AC/DC!! Maragret, Angus's sis said "the boy shorts outfit would entertain the audience", so he wore it. "I just can't stand there while playin the guitar. I have to hop and dance around." says Angus.
Angus said that he came up with AC/DC on one of his mom's vacuum cleaners (like thAC/DC outlet thingie)
AC/DC debut came on New year's eve of '73 at a party in sydeney's chequers nightclub. Line-up was: Angus on lead, Malcolm and on rhythm, Colin burgess on drums, larry van knedt on bass, and Dave evans as singer. There were lots of chabges over the years. First colin burgess was replaced by ron carpenter. Then larry van knedt, replaced by rob bailey. Ron didn't last long at all; he was replaced by russell coleman who was soon replaced by peter clark.
AC/DC came out with their first single "can i sit next ta ya girl?",
and "Rockin in the parlour". The next changes was the biggest change at that
time. The bus driver was bon scott, told them that he could play drums and he replaced peter clark. He also said Bruce houwe, who played with bon in fraternity, as the new bass player replacing Rob. Angus and Malcolm were getting tired of Dave Evans becaue he was turning into a glittery glam guy (which means he thought he was "special") "Me and Mal would kick dave off the stage," said Angus. Bon told them that he found he was a good singer, and took dave's place for AC/DC (and im glad too!) AC/DC's first album was "High Voltage".
High Voltage was just recorded in 10 days. line-up was young-young-scott with george as bass and tony kerrante on drums. The album was rleased in australia in '75. Then they hired phil rudd (which i'm glad!)
and Mark Evans on bass. young-young-scott-evans-rudd recorded three more albums in the couple of years. "T.N.T" in '75, "dirty deeds done dirt cheap" in '76 (when me dad graduated!) and then "let there be rock" in '77 (when me mom graduated!) A personality clash went between mark and angus and mark finally left before they had a chance to fire him.
The band had a little trouble findin a new bass player they had 50 bass players till they found cliff williams (which i'm glad!) and quickly hired him. They went to record some of the best albums ever! "Powerage" in '78, "if you want blood you've got it" in '78, and the best album yet, "highway to hell" in '79.
AC/DC was gettin worldwide popularity when terrible tragedy struck on feb. 19, 1980. Bon scott died in a friends car. he was a heavey drinker and he was passed out and choked on his own vomit. They said heroine might have been involved but thte true facts will never be known.
They decided if they should go on. Malcolm and Angus decided they should go on. Malcolm and was looking for a new dsinger in mid-march. They had others try out but they thought they were'nt good for the job. A 14-year old fan from chicagowrote a letter saying he heard a guy named Brian Johnspn, from Geordie, had the best voice he had ever heard. He came to the auditiond and sang and hired him. (i'm glad they found brian!)
The next album was back in black, a tribute to bon scott. It was all black with a bumpy cover. Bon had 15 songs but they didn't think it was right for brian to sing bon's songs,. most of the songs were written be Angus, Malcolm, and Brian but the rest of the band helped. Back in black was the best selling heavy metal album yet. They were on the signin sheet to STARDOM!!
In 1981, they made their next album, "For those about to rock we salute you" Then "Flick of the switch" in '83 This album was not finished with phil. I never knew this till now, that phil was heavy on drugs and was hallucinatin so badily, that he had to go to the hospital a couple of times. There was a fist fight between him and they say it was malcolm because was cheatin' on malcolm's girl. Flick of the switch was finished with another studio drummer. AC/DC put an article in a heavy metal magazine but didn't want to reveal the name for a suprise. Simon wright showed up and was very suprised (i don't blame him!) that he was playin for AC/DC. They like what they saw and hired him. They then recorded "Fly on the wall" in '85.
In '86 they released "Who made Who" was for a stephen king movie "Maximum Overdrive". The songs were picked out by stephen king who is a big fan of AC/DC (like maself!) In '88 they released "Blow up your video" which lead to another drummer change.
Simon left because he was always a fan of dio, dio asked if he would join and it didn't take long for simon to make his decision. They found Chris Salde who had played for tom jones. The next album was the "Razor's edge" which was recorded when i was born! 1990.
They had only made on LIVE album so they decided to make another. AC/DC LIVE was made when me sis was born!! 1992.
In '95, Phil was back for the next album "ballbreaker" was released in September.
